Shower glass restoration

We’ll have your shower glass looking like it’s just rolled off the factory line – at a fraction of the cost of replacing it.

Shower glass cleaning and restoration in New Zealand

The shower is one of the most used areas of your home, meaning that over time, shower glass can become etched by the minerals in the water supply. While you may think that replacing the glass is your only option, you can save money on replacement costs and opt for shower glass restoration instead.

At GroutPro, we specialise in shower glass cleaning and restoration, removing stubborn limescale or minor water marks, and protecting your glass with Enduroshield – a durable shower glass coating to keep it cleaner for longer.

Looking to restore and protect your shower glass? We’re here to help.

Mineral etching

Minerals in the water supply such as lime, iron oxide, and calcium will fuse to the glass when water droplets are left to dry on the surface after each shower. This results in small water marks appearing that eventually cover the entire panel, leaving the glass cloudy.  These minerals are unable to be removed by daily cleaning products

Soap and chemical buildup

Shower glass that is not cleaned, rinsed,  and dried off regularly will also build up deposits of soap, shampoo, and body oils, that can form an unsightly layer. General spray and wipe cleaning products available at supermarkets are unable to remove these stubborn build-ups.

Spray and walk away type products can cause damage to other surfaces as they are left at full strength for long periods of time.

Water droplets on the glass

Untreated glass allows water droplets to hang on to the glass surface, which then leaved behind the minerals as the water evaporates during the day. Treating the glass ensures that water is unable to stick to the glass.

Why use GroutPro to restore your shower glass?

GroutPro has perfected a process to remove the mineral etching and product build up using our own micro-abrasive solution and a lot of elbow grease. Once the clarity has been restored we apply a nan0-technology coating – Enduroshield – that stops the water from sticking to the glass.

Our process does not scratch the glass unlike many DIY products on the market.

Mineral etching removed

The minerals are scoured out of the the surface of the glass restoring the clarity to the panel. This process typically removes 90% of the mineral etching making you glass appear almost as new.

Glass protector is applied

A coating of temporary glass protector, or permanent Enduroshield, is applied to the glass to make the water droplets bead off the glass. The makes sure that no minerals are left sitting on the glass surface.

    FAQ

    • Can all etched shower glass be restored?

This can depend on the age and type of the glass, and what chemicals have been used to try to keep it clean. Our quoting process will determine if the glass can be restored or not.

    • How long does a shower glass coating last?

A professional glass coating like Enduroshield Professional can last for years, unlike DIY coatings that require reapplication every few months. It forms an invisible barrier that repels soap scum, water stains, and mineral buildup, helping to keep your shower glass cleaner for longer.

    • What is the best way to clean my shower glass?

To keep your shower glass clear, we recommend using a non-abrasive cleaner and a soft cloth or squeegee after each use. Avoid harsh chemicals, scouring pads, or acidic cleaners, as these can damage the surface and create more scratches. For long-term protection, a shower glass coating like Enduroshield Professional is best.

    • Why can’t I get the water marks off my shower glass?

Water spotting is caused by minerals such as calcium, lime, and iron in the water supply sticking to the microscopic pores of the glass. When water droplets are left on the surface, they evaporate, leaving behind these stubborn stains. Over time, these minerals build up and block the clarity of the glass.

Removing them requires specialist abrasive products and professional techniques to restore up to 80 - 90% shower glass clarity. However, in some cases, severely etched glass may not be fully restorable. The best way to minimise water marks is to wipe down your glass after every shower.
